Journal 22

 June 18 - June 20

My goodness how this class has flown by! These 8 weeks have felt so short, yet so jam-packed with information and learning, yet interesting enough in content to not feel overwhelming or bothersome. I really, truly enjoyed this course and am grateful for all I have learned. To me, the most important things learned in this course are the use of SQL, the use of the MongoDB interactive web programming, and the importance of data management in general. While these topics may seem broad, I believe they are each are the most valuable lessons in this course. Of course, there are much smaller aspects of each topic, such as how to do certain things in the code itself, I believe the overall skill of being able to utilize these for a resume are of utmost importance.

Prior to this course, I had never used SQL in any way, and knew nothing of the language. I am happy to say that I feel as though I have a good grasp on it now, and, while I'm sure theres much more to learn, I feel confident to be able to add SQL to my repertoire of programming languages. In addition, I had never even heard of MongoDB prior to my assignments that required it, but am glad to have gotten some practice utilizing it should I ever need to do so again for work in the future. I will be sure to appreciate and utilize the flexibility of MongoDB in future projects that require such. Seeing that I wish to work in data science and analytics once I graduate, I will likely be doing a lot of data storage and management, and am happy to have gotten a great introduction to such in this course. I will be sure to continue brushing up on these skills and furthering my knowledge in both SQL and MongoDB in the chance I may need to use them in my jobs in the future. Of course, I always knew that data management was important, but I am not sure I appreciated the intricacies of how it is done, and all the vast ways to utilize data. This course was incredibly informative and enjoyable. I had a great 8 weeks and am happy to say this has been my favorite course thus far.
